TEMPT Team Featured shop of the day – ME!
In November I went on a course to make a pig in a day at Gayle Mill near Hawes. The teacher was Josie East who had prepared all the willow in advance.
Stage 1 involved creating the basic shape of the pig:
Once the basic shape was created the willow was woven around the body and legs inserted:
By the end of the day it really had changed from Air Balloon to Pig with lovely curly Corn Dolly tail:
Once home it just needed tidying up:
It was an excellent day and I can really recommend having a go at Willow Weaving!
Took a break from uploading to my Etsy shop <https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ItchyFingersLynny>.
The sun was streaming through the clouds over the village and I took this photo on my phone. Could this be the start of Spring?
No maybe not but it was nice while it lasted!
On a cold November day I travelled ‘up dale’ to the Museum at Hawes as part of the Dales Creative Workshops, organised by Sue Dewhurst of the Pop up Galley, to join Andris Berg (Chain-saw Sculptor) and Irene Lofthouse (Story Weaver).
I was there to demonstrate the traditional craft of Corn Dolly making. So I had spent the previous month making straw corn dollies for my display.
People had the chance to have a go with Art Straws which the children enjoyed.
